The 'Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence' is organizing a Master Class for MA students from European Union Studies, Law, Political Science and  Public Administration. Students who are interested are invited to apply in writing, with a brief cv and a short letter of motivation by December 16, 2010.

Programme

The class will take place in The Hague from 13.30 to 17.00 hrs on Wednesdays. Each class will start with a presentation and discussion of the literature, before proceeding to the exposition by the speaker and discussion. Some of the sessions will conflate with the MA-EUS European seminar series. The classes will run from 9 February to 18 May (except for 6, 20, 27 April and 4 May) with graduation on 27 May. Participants will be expected to participate in all the classes and complete a paper on one of the topics covered by the lecture series. Graduates of the class will receive a certificate of participation but no ECTS’s. The class is limited to 24 participants.  

Background

The intention is to invite practitioners at different levels of decision-making and from different policy areas to reflect on their view of domestic and EU policy-making. The policy levels include the European Council, the foreign ministry, the parliament,  the permanent representatives in Brussels, the EU Commission, the EU economic and social committee and the European Central Bank. The policy areas will range from foreign and security policy, through agriculture and social affairs to monetary policy.
