11 October Europe Debate: 'values for money'

Europe is in the middle of a financial crisis, an event that is heavily debated in the Netherlands. Some questions that will be addressed during this debate: What is the value and meaning of the EU for the Netherlands and vice versa? How does it need to continue?


6 July, 2011: Public event on Polish EU presidency

As from the 1st of July 2011 Poland will assume the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the coming half year. To pay special attention to the six months calendar of the Polish Presidency, the Netherlands Institute of International Relations ‘Clingendael’ in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in The Hague will organise a public event.


24 June, 2011: Debate ‘the Netherlands out of the Euro?

On 24 June, 2011 the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence organizes a debate (in Dutch) on the current eurocrisis, to discuss these issues and questions such as: What is the role of the Netherlands in the European Union? What are the challenges and advantages for the Netherlands within the Union?  


9 May: Europe Day

On Europe Day Bernard Steunenberg was invited to two radioshows, where he talked with several people about Europe's 'Birthday' and the current state of the Union.


Masterclass: Europe in Practice

The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence is organizing a Masterclass for MA students from European Union Studies, Law, Political Science and Public Administration. Application deadline is Thursday December 16, 2010.


23 November 2010: debate on the admission of Turkey to the EU

Whether Turkey should be a member of the European Union is a debate that is going on for years now. The Dutch have explicit opinions regarding the admission. The same goes for the other memberstates and for the people of Turkey. At the first Jean Monnet debate, organised by the Institute of Public Administration of Leiden University and the Campus the Hague panelmembers will discuss the possible admission of Turkey to the EU.
