How can I register for a master’s programme that is offered by the Institute of Political Science?

You can find out how you can apply for a master’s programme by visiting the website for the particular programme you wish you enroll in.


Where can I find information about scholarships?

Leiden University has a scholarship office. If you want more information on the different scholarships you could apply for and the application procedure, please visit this website.

Do I really need proof of English proficiency to apply for the programme?

Yes, unless you are exempt from this entry requirement. Students who have completed certain English-language programmes in the Netherlands, have obtained their university degrees in certain countries, or completed their university degrees at certain English-language institutions in the Netherlands do not have to hand in proof of English proficiency. You can find out whether or not this requirement applies to you by visiting the following pages on entry requirements (see below). These pages list the entry requirements for each specific master’s programme.


What is the tuition fee for my master’s programme?

You can find out what the tuition fee is for your specific master’s programme by visiting the pages below. The height of the tuition fee for the Master in Political Science and the Research Master depend on your nationality and whether you already obtained a Dutch master’s degree.


Course registration

In this section you can find the answers to frequently asked questions concerning course registration.

How can I register for a master seminar/thesis seminar (and other courses)?
Students are informed through the e-Prospectus and/or by e-mail about the registration procedures for courses a few weeks in advance of the start of the specific course. You can find more information about course registration here.

I tried to register for a course in uSis but I did not succeed. Where can I get help?
Please first take a look at the uSis instructions. If that doesn't help, you can consult the uSis helpdesk (uSis-helpdesk@sea.leidenuniv.nl).

Students do not need to register in uSis for fixed/compulsory courses.

How and when can I unenroll?
If you complete or discontinue your programme at any point during the academic year, you need to cancel your registration. This is done through Studielink. Further information can be found on the Graduating page.
