Kavita Ziemann has been awarded a Mosaic grant
Kavita Ziemann, currently a student in the Research Master programme in Political Science, has been awarded a Mosaic grant by the Dutch science foundation NWO.
The Mosaic Grant
The Mosaic programme is designed to attract more ethnic minority graduates into academic research. Out of 98 applicants across all disciplines and universities, Kavita (of Israeli origin) is one of 22 prize winners, selected on the basis of their cv, research proposal, presentation, and reaction to critique by referees. The grant is for a four-year junior research fellowship to complete her PhD at Leiden University. Kavita’s PhD research involves a comparative study of the effect, if any, of constitutional reform on democratic legitimacy.
The impact of reforms
Scientists, governments and international organisations seem to have established a consent that reforms are needed to safeguard democracy. Ziemann's project, entitled Democratic Legitimacy:The Impact of Institutional Reform, will research the actual impact of reforms on democratic legitimacy.
