Dr. Tanja Aalberts wins ECPR Jean Blondel PhD Prize and Political Science Award

ECPR Jean Blondel Prize

Dr. Tanja Aalberts, assistant professor International Relations, received the ECPR Jean Blondel PhD Prize 2007 for her dissertation “The Politics of Sovereignity”.
The jury states in her report that "[t]he author demonstrates academic maturity and mastery of the relevant literature" and concludes that this thesis "addresses a much debated subject and succeeds in offering a genuine contribution to the literature based on thorough and careful reviews of the relevant literature in the field and a reconstruction and reassessment of the handling of ‘sovereignty’ in IR theory. "

Political Science Award

Earlier this year she received the yearly Political Science award for her dissertation. In total ninety PhD-thesis have been reviewed.
The jury report states her book to be of great academic value and to be especially relevant for the development of Political Science as an international academic discipline. The book contributes to the international debate on the concept of sovereignity.
