Lianne Holten wins Marian Rens Thesis Award

LOVA, the national contact group for women’s and gender studies within the discipline of anthropology, has awarded (Cultural Antropology and Developmental Sociology /Master Thesis lab) the bi-annual Lova/Marian Rens Award for 2007-2008, for her Master’s thesis 'Pregnancy Strategies in the Mandé Mountains of Mali'.

The thesis will be published in book form, and Lianne also received € 500,- in cash.  

LOVA and the Marjan Rens Foundation

LOVA aims to actively promote women’s, gender, and feminism studies within the field of anthropology, and propagate new theoretical insights to a wider audience both inside and outside the universities. LOVA also wants to contribute to building and supporting world-wide networks of women striving for equal relations between men and women and respect for human rights.  

The Marian Rens Foundation stimulates anthropological research in farming communities, with a preference for research from a feminist perspective.
